Social justice is defined as “the fair and just relation between the individual and society. This is measured by the explicit and tacit terms for the distribution of wealth, opportunities for personal activity and social privileges.

Individuals can make a difference. It starts with an idea or dream that someone may have. Inc.com writes that there are seven qualities that make-up an effective leader (listed below). In

  5. Have confidence
  6. Communicate
  7. Be decisive

The following is your assignment as an introduction for our social justice unit.

  1. Check out one of the following organizations to gain a better understanding of what social justice activism entails.

  2. Research one of the following advocates and create a short biography on them. Make sure to record, and cite, plenty of information as you will need it. There can only be one advocate per class so once you have chosen one, write both your name, and your advocate, on the whiteboard.

      3. Three quotes from your advocate
      4. Incorporate the seven qualities of an effective leader and discuss which ones apply to your figure
      5. Reflection – your take on the person and why you think they were successful
